Its 4-inch stainless steel stem can be placed in a teacup, mug or teapot to measure water temperature and brewing time.

great options, flawed design
-don't leave it around heat too long or it can deform the plastic-you can't add your own tea types or steeping times/temps.. you have to use theirs. and their tea names are all really wacky (ex: darjeeling green is "DAJEL", pu-erh is "PUEHT".. etc)other than those 2 things, it works pretty well and has enough options that you're sure to find the right settings for your taste. I use mine and like it, but I really hope they come out with an updated version that fixes those flawsUPDATE:after about 4 months of use (once a day almost everyday) the display all of a sudden became scrambled and illegible. it still worked fine.. I could tell the timer was counting down and the tea types were switching, but I just couldn't read what it said. not sure if the constant humidity finally shorted something out or what, but it had to be replaced. I shopped around for a similar product, but this is pretty much it folks! there aren't really any other tea timers/thermometers that have this many options. despite it's shortcomings, I do definitely like this product.

Does exactly what its supposed to do
What's to say? This little tea thermometer delivers, is sturdy, reliable and does exactly what it promises. The holder is a good fit, and the settings allow you to get the right temperature for the right time for whatever tea you are steeping. I'm a bit of a darjeeling-obsessed tea nut , so this thermometer helps me get that perfect cup for steeps, re-steeps, etc depending on the tea, flush, etc.

This is a great tea thermometer that I recommend
This is a great tea thermometer that I recommend.I'm buying a second one because I dropped mine in a pot of boiling water and bricked it.

AMAZING PRODUCT- complicated directions.
This is an AMAZING product~ perfect for the tea perfectionist like me, but I haven't even used it yet and already know that the directions leave a lot to be desired.:1.) It suggests "1 slightly heaped teaspoon of tea per cup" (or 1.75 grams), but the industry standard is actually 2.25 grams per 6 ounces of water.2.) The settings for the 18 types of tea are abbreviated and I can't figure out some of them.3.) Amazon claims it "can be custom programmed for creative tea concoctions", but it says nothing about that function in the directions.... I called the company that makes this and it CAN NOT "be custom programmed for creative tea concoctions", which unfortunately is the main reason I bought it.

Slow and hard to use
I bought this to check temperature of tea water. My problems with it are 1) it's complicated, you have to choose a tea type, you can't just set a temp you want and then let it go. 2) There's no just "tell me the temp now" option, 3) it takes a long time to get the temperature of water. 4) It doesn't work well in many tea kettles, the stick is too short and there's nothing to hold it in place, so I can't even put it in my kettle while water is heating, which means the only thing i can do is pre-heat the water and then check it; which as I said takes a long time. I use this thing when I'm desperate and that's the only time I touch it, the rest of the time I'd rather guess than pull it out of the drawer.

Too complicated to use
I am a tea drinker. So many of the herbal teas are more beneficial if not steeped in boiling water. I purchased this thinking it would help me brew tea at optimal temperatures. However, the instructions are so confusing and involved that I doubt I will ever use this thing. Will try something simple like a candy thermometer instead, which is what I should have done in the first place.Buying this was a waste of money. Maybe someone I know will want to try to figure it out.
